This past weekend, Emily Sookraj stepped onto the tennis courts at Star Island Resort to compete in the Level 6 "Ballin' at the Island" Tournament, hosted by Kevin. As one of the top young competitors from Clermont Tennis Academy, Emily showcased her skill, determination, and competitive mindset throughout the event.

A Hard-Fought Battle

Emily’s first match was a thrilling showdown against the tournament’s No. 2 seed, Valerie R. She came out strong, winning the first set 6-4. Valerie fought back, taking the second set 3-6, setting up a dramatic 7-point tiebreaker. Emily had match point but just missed closing it out, ultimately falling 8-10 in a heartbreaking but well-fought battle.

In the consolation round, Emily continued to compete with intensity, but despite her efforts, she fell 2-4, 2-4 in another tightly contested match.

A True Competitor in Tournament Tennis

Competing in a USTA Level 6 tournament is a challenge, and Emily proved she can hold her own against tough competition. She displayed impressive shot-making, strong match play strategy, and a never-give-up attitude, all qualities that set her apart as a rising junior tennis player.

Emily trains at Clermont Tennis Academy, where she is part of our Tournament Training Program and UTR Homeschool Program. These specialized tennis lessons provide high-level coaching, match play preparation, and competitive drills designed to develop top junior players.
